May the best team win in what promises to be a spectacular NFL season
It’s that time of the year again, the time where things become magical with the touch of a button, and all your worries are gone through the magnificent display of high-octane football. For many people football is Shambhala, the perfect venue for which to drown their sorrows and kick back for a few hours. No matter how many fuck-ups they make, the NFL remains the king of the mountain, forever bestowed upon the minds of many as the key to happiness. It is part of the DNA of the American psyche, a true testament to its interest.
It was a roller coaster of an offseason that has left the league tainted with disgraceful acts. The Deshaun Watson fiasco, the Dolphins tampering allegations, and the Commanders emails were all black marks for the league that detracted from Tom Brady’s return from a one-month retirement and player/personnel movement. And yet despite the well-deserved scrutiny, nothing seems to hinder the league as a whole. I wish I could grasp the psychological mechanisms that has allowed itself to be shielded from such depravity, but the answer clearly lies on the individual.
