What to Make of the Cam Newton vs. Mac Jones Debate?

All right, all right, this issue has to be addressed. We all thought we could just toss it aside and pretend it was a big nothingburger, but not this time, not with what’s been happening right before our very eyes. Mac Jones looked incredible this preseason, and the practice reports have been consistently impressive. He’s been a key discussion on Patriots’ social media practically every week since the start of training, and there is very little information deterring the buzz. Throws he made during camp and preseason were constantly highlighted and dissected to Zapruder-like levels. One that got a lot of attention was a 50 yard incompletion to WR N’Keal Harry during week 2 of preseason. Many were quick to point out the incompletion was mostly Harry’s fault and the throw itself was a just about as perfect as a rookie can get.

The Jones hype train has been increasing regardless of whether you support the current starter Cam Newton or not. The debate has just about turned a good portion of Patriots fans into bickering relatives during Thanksgiving dinner, but others like me — who could honestly give two shits who starts at QB as long as the team is winning yet also enjoy the complete chaos of constant arguments, are having the absolute best of times.
